Ben Welsh, Head Professional at Frost Creek and 2020 Colorado PGA Professional of the Year, recently shared his insights into the Frost Creek experience, and how CaddieNow was the right partner to help launch a new Caddie Program, including solutions other platforms can’t, or won’t, provide.
Tell us a little about your caddie program.
Our Caddie Program was new in 2021. We built the model with CaddieNow’s help, and they guided us throughout the entire process.
Q: What is your favorite thing about golf at Frost Creek?
A: Playing golf at Frost Creek reminds you of all the best parts of the game. The serenity of the mountain setting coupled with the immaculate course conditions makes it the perfect place to play. The course is pure enough to entertain the best players and generous enough to not intimidate those less avid players or those who are new to the game.
Q: What has Frost Creek done to improve or broaden the golf experience at the club?
A: Frost Creek’s golf course offers five main sets of tees and four combo tee options to appeal to all types of golfers. Three years ago, the club added four more forward tees on holes 1, 7, 8, and 17 to accommodate the shorter hitters. We are committed to keeping the integrity of the Tom Weiskopf design while making sure that we accommodate each and every golfer. In order to achieve that goal, a Caddie Program was essential to the overall golfing experience.
Q: What made CaddieNow stand out from other options?
A: CaddieNow offers a one-stop-shop for many challenges caddie programs present. As a start-up, it was helpful to know we can grow into a more robust offering that CaddieNow provides to enable various elements of a growing caddie program. From recruitment to training, to getting closer to our members in order to better meet and exceed expectations both on and off the course, CaddieNow has us poised for growth.
Q: What problems have you avoided?
A: Developing our program from scratch, having the support of Dave and Tommy throughout the process was extremely helpful and instrumental in the development of our program. CaddieNow was a true partner, connecting me with other CaddieNow Clubs for perspect
ive. The platform allows us to avoid scheduling conflicts and caddie payment issues (handled by the app), while providing liability protection and reducing risk for our club.
Q: What is your advice for other like-clubs in your situation?
A: The ease of payment for the caddies has streamlined the process. The club doesn’t have to manage cash and often, the caddies make more because there is no hard cash changing hands. CaddieNow treats us as a partner, open communication, helpful in recruitment, and always a good industry resource.
Q: What has exceeded your expectations working with us?
A: Most of all, CaddieNow is open to suggestions and changes that help us be more efficient.
